We’ve all been there. We walk up to the bar at a coffee shop, and there is a super cute barista staring back at us asking what we would like.
A new coffee shop recently opened up in my town, called PJ’s, that I’ve started to visit as my new hot spot. Less people currently go there than to my other go-to, and their shop is more my aesthetic.
Every time I go, I always hope the cute barista will be there. I always tell myself I’m going to talk to him, and maybe flirt with him a little. I seem to always end up getting flustered and acting very awkward. I’ve decided to put a plan in motion that will hopefully let me start flirting with him and maybe become friends, without embarrassing myself so much that I have to stop going there.
Step 1:
Visit frequently.
I’ve found that 2 to 3 times a week is a good mix. Of course, I end up going almost everyday of the week because I end up meeting friends there sometimes too.
Step 2:
Order the same drink every time you go so they can get to know your order.
Step 3:
Sit in the same spot every time, and make sure there’s a good view of the counter so he can notice you!
Step 4:
Make friends with the other baristas.
Who knows, maybe they’ll talk you up to the cute barista!
Step 5:
Gradually increase the small talk with the barista you’ve got your eye on.
I’ve probably ironically said “well, hello again!” 20 times to him already, and it gets less ironic each time - but he still laughs!
Step 6:
Be confident!
All you’re doing is talking. It’s always fun and exciting to make new friends and connections!
Hopefully you can use my thought process as a way to talk to that cute barista in your life. Slowly, but surely, my process is working!
Update: GUYS. The last time I came in here he went out of his way to come say hi to me, and we joked and I flirted with him and it went so well. He now always tries to guess my coffee order when I come in. It's working, try it!
